It’s been a rare offseason for Duquesne Basketball when it comes to roster building, as there hasn’t been any kind of real exodus. Only one player of the 12-man rotation transferred out, with the others that left not having any eligibility left. The team brings back its two leading scorers in Dae Dae Grant and Tre Clark, along with Tre Williams and Kareem Rozier.

There still was an opportunity for the Atlantic 10 team to build up its roster and they did that, landing six newcomers. Two of them are freshmen, two are twins, and two others are Europeans from the transfer portal. Here’s a look at who is joining Duquesne and what they have to offer.

FR Kailon Nicholls

A 6’0 point guard out of Toronto, Canada, Nicholls is a quality athlete that’s a scoring playmaker. He’s a very capable shooter, making 40% of his three-point attempts last season in high school. Nicholls has a great chance to get minutes early on as a freshman, backing up Kareem Rozier in the backcourt rotation.

FR Jakub Nečas

Necas is a 6’8 wing and the last commitment on the roster. He’s viewed as one of the better pro prospects to come out of the Czech Republic in recent years, being a standout in the European championships on the national teams. With Matus Hronsky dealing with an injury, Necas is someone that can come in behind Tre Clark at the three-spot if the Drame twins are exclusively in the frontcourt next season.
