Jarron Coleman is in the NCAA Basketball transfer portal and should have some interest. What will he offer to his next team?

We’re in August and while 99% of the NCAA Basketball transfer portal business is done, there is still movement to be expected. There are seniors that are currently finishing up Summer classes and looking to become grad transfers and have immediate eligibility for next season.

One recent example of this is Jarron Coleman, a 6’5 shooting guard from Indianapolis. He has a career 86 starters in four years, coming off a career-high 14.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and 3.8 apg at Ball State. Coleman shot just 38% from the field but did make 35% from deep on over six attempts a game.

Some big performances from Coleman include 29 points at Indiana State, as well as 18 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists versus Eastern Michigan. He’s a capable combo guard with size that also has power conference experience. In his lone year at Missouri as a junior, Coleman averaged 8.6 ppg on 36% shooting from the field.

There are a number of programs that could have interest in Coleman, particularly those that have a need for at shooting guard. Local program Indiana have targeted but failed to land a shooting guard out of the portal, while Michigan is in the same boat.

One team to watch is UCF, which recently had a roster defection of its own. Guard Jaykwon Walton was committed to the Big 12 program but decided to play for Memphis instead, leaving a hole on its roster. Coleman reportedly is set to visit them first but expect the recruitment to continue.

Whether the Knights find a way to land Coleman or not, this is likely not the last entry that power conference teams are looking for. We’ll see what happens with him and potentially others in the coming weeks.
