Jared Billups – 6’4 Guard – George Mason Patriots
After a recent coaching change and several players hitting the transfer portal this offseason, the George Mason Patriots should be an interesting team to follow next season.
With head coach Ed Cooley leaving Providence to coach Georgetown, the Friars would name George Mason’s Kim English as their next head coach. Former Patriots Josh Oduro, Davonte Gaines, and Justyn Fernandez would ultimately follow their head coach to Friartown.
With several changes following last season, George Mason would go into a rebuilding process to restructure the program. The Patriots promoted assistant coach Tony Skinn as their next head coach, and his staff got to work recruiting.
George Mason will welcome three transfers this Fall, including Oklahoma State forward Woody Netwon, Virginia Tech guard Darius Maddox, and Siena guard Jared Billups. While all three provide needs for the Patriots, I believe Billups can make the most significant impact.

Last season, he averaged 8.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and shot 33.6 percent in 31 games played with the Saints as a sophomore. Billups posted a career-high 24 points and seven rebounds in a road victory over Marist.
When he arrives on campus this Fall, Jared Billups will officially trade in the Siena green and gold for the George Mason green and gold threads. The 6-foot-4 guard from Waldorf, Maryland, and Patriots fans can be excited about his return to the DMV when he makes his debut at EagleBank Arena.
