Although Notre Dame Basketball’s roster is looking rough entering next season, the staff is already building for a good future with the recruiting class.

When Coach Micah Shrewsberry took over the Notre Dame Basketball job, he wasn’t inheriting a ton of talent. Most of the players on last season’s team were seniors and the few underclassmen that there were mostly transferred out. And while the staff tried to fill some holes on the roster, the 2023-24 squad leaves a lot to be desired on paper.

If you want to look on the bright side, the Fighting Irish does have plenty of potential room available for future players. And the 2024 recruiting class is starting to build up, thanks to a pair of commitments from this past week to join the already committed guard, Cole Certa.

The first pickup was Garrett Sundra, a 6’10 stretch forward and four-star prospect. The Fairfax, Virginia native is capable of stretching the floor and is the kind of skilled frontcourt addition needed on a current roster that features more traditional big men such as Kebba Nkie and Carey Booth.

The most recent commitment for Notre Dame is Sir Mohammed, a 6’6 guard out of Charlotte, North Carolina. He’s another four-star prospect, ranked inside of the top 50 overall in the 2024 class. Sir is the son of former NBA player Nazr Mohammed and is a quality facilitator with great size and versatility on the perimeter. He’s the kind of all-around talent that the Irish can simply plug in anywhere where there’s a hole. And this current roster has a few so look for him to get on the court somehow as a freshman.

When Coach Shrewsberry took the job, it was clear that it was going to be a rebuilding effort. But commitments like these will help expedite the process. Let’s see who else Notre Dame will try to add to the 2024 class.
