Pac-12 Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
10. Delon Wright
While he’d later become a star in the Pac-12, Wright actually began his collegiate journey in 2011 at the City College of San Francisco. This 6’5 point guard from Los Angeles turned plenty of heads at the junior college level before deciding to transfer to Utah. Wright joined a Utes program that had really struggled in recent years and was a major factor in their turnaround.
In his first season of D1 ball, Wright averaged 15.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game as the Utes won 21 games, a nice improvement over the previous season. He came up just short of a triple-double on multiple occasions and had great steals figures as well. As a senior, Wright shot the ball even better and led the Utes to a 26-win season that involved a trip to the Sweet Sixteen.
Not only was Wright named First Team All-Pac-12 for both seasons, he won the Bob Cousy Award and was a Second Team All-American in his final collegiate campaign. Wright truly rose to stardom after playing junior college ball in northern California, becoming one of the most efficient scorers in the Pac-12 while ranking nationally in steals in both seasons as well. Wright was the 20th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft and continues to play professional ball nearly a decade later.
