Why you should know Nendah Tarke

Anyone who watches the MEAC will tell you that Tarke has already had a breakout and he should have been included in any of the top transfer lists. In all fairness, I do not disagree, but he was never the focal point of the offense and Coppin State was never very good during his time there.

Tarke is heading to a league that has all their games either on TV or on a streaming service, he will get exposure, and on top of that the guard is going to be playing on a team that will be fighting for a postseason berth of some kind. That is not something he could ever say at his previous school. On the surface, the guard made a great decision transferring and Towson is going to get a special type of player.

The guard may be a good offensive player, but he is one of the best players in the country on the defensive end of the floor. His value is always going to be greater on the defensive end of the floor. Tarke is a two-time member of the MEAC all-defensive team and he led the country in steals per game two seasons ago. The guard had 94 steals in that season and that is the most steals in Coppin State history. He is one of the best individual on-ball defenders in the game and is going to be able to take a player out of the game completely. Expect the guard to lead Towson in steals and be one of the nation’s leaders in the stat as well.

The recognition doesn’t just stop at his defensive accomplishments. Tarke was named the freshman of the year in the MEAC, and he is also a 1,000-point scorer in the 3 seasons at Coppin State. He has 10 game-winners on the ledger as well. Many of you may not believe that clutch is a thing, but Towson fans are going to find out quickly that Tarke is the guy that the Tigers will want to have the ball down the stretch.

The guard drastically improved his shooting percentages from the floor and from three last season. There is a huge need for improvement from the foul line though. A player like Tarke is going to get to the line a ton and he only shot 54% from the line a season ago. That will have to improve for the guard to be the player he is capable of being.
