6. Tucker Richardson

A 6’5 combo guard from Flemington, New Jersey, Richardson had himself quite the collegiate career playing at Colgate. He arrived back in 2018 and would become a very important part of the Raiders’ successful program over the next half-decade, having taken advantage of the bonus year from the pandemic and playing in four NCAA Tournaments.

He was already good for 8.1 points a game with decent assist numbers as a freshman, taking a starting spot right off the bat. Richardson was productive throughout his career, helping the Raiders to four Patriot League Tournament titles with increased production. By his super-senior year, he was averaging 13.7 points and 5.7 assists as the starter at the point. Perhaps the highlight of that final season was a 30-point breakout performance in the team’s road upset at Syracuse.

Richardson was Patriot League Rookie of the Year as a freshman and would earn several honors later in his career, including multiple All-Patriot and All-Defense mentions. In that fifth and final campaign, not only was he a major stat stuffer for the Raiders, he was named Patriot Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Tournament MVP. A major part of Colgate’s successful rise, Richardson left college as a rare mid-major player to feature in four NCAA Tournaments.
