21. Javante McCoy

McCoy is a 6’5 combo guard from Milwaukee who made his way to the East Coast, spending half a decade at Boston University. He originally joined the Terriers back in 2017 and would spend five years there, taking advantage of his bonus year from the pandemic. McCoy was a backcourt starter for nearly his entire career and was one of the Terriers’ best players in recent memory.

He’d have some solid production in his early years, with great shooting from outside the arc as an upperclassman, albeit with limited opportunities. McCoy’s junior year was awesome, as he’d average 12.2 points and 3.4 assists per game and help lead Boston University to the Patriot League Tournament title. Unfortunately, the Big Dance was cancelled due to the pandemic. In his final seasons, McCoy was an even more impactful player, averaging 17.4 points per game by the end of his fifth year, leading BU to a 3rd place finish in conference.

Three of those years ended with McCoy earning All-Patriot honors. He was the league’s leading scorer in his final collegiate campaign and also led the Patriot League in effective field goal percentage. McCoy was an important piece in the Terriers’ backcourt and scored just over 1900 points in his five-year career. It’s just a shame that he and his teammates were robbed of their chance at the NCAA Tournament.
