UConn Basketball: Top 4 non-conference opponents for 2023-24 season
By John Makuch
UConn basketball is obviously coming off a phenomenal season in which they closed it out with winning a National Championship. Now it is time for them to make yet another title push starting with their nonconference schedule.
This season, this team will have major marquee matchups that will allow them to get some great quality wins for the resume come tournament time. The Huskies and Dan Hurley will have their work cut out for them, but these four opponents will truly test this squad.
4. Nov.19 VS Indiana, (Empire Classic, Madison Square Garden)
This tough matchup comes early for UConn, and it will be their first matchup within the Power 5 in their non-conference schedule. Indiana has been an improving program, and under Mike Woodson, this is a school that is looking to make that push toward being a competitor in the Big Ten this season.
For Indiana, this will be just as big of a game for them as it is UConn, taking down the defending national champion would be a game that shows the nation the Hoosiers have truly returned. For UConn, this is a matchup they will definitely want to take care of if they do not want to have to make ground elsewhere in their rigorous schedule.
In the all-time series, the Huskies have the advantage 6-4 against Indiana, one of the multiple blue blood programs they will face during this stretch. But this is just the beginning of a schedule that gives them a chance to sustain a very high ranking early on.
