Summit League Basketball: Ranking of 25 best players from last decade (2013-23)
By Joey Loose
25. Tyler Hagedorn
A 6’10 forward from Norfolk, Nebraska, Hagedorn spent four seasons playing college ball at South Dakota, arriving on campus back in 2015. He was a bench piece for his first two seasons with the Coyotes before becoming a starter. After taking an impressive step forward as a junior, Hagedorn suffered a significant injury and would redshirt, but came back strong as a senior the following year.
There’s not a ton to say about his first two seasons, though he helped lead the Coyotes to the Summit League regular season title as a bench piece in his second season. During that junior year, he was up to 13.0 points and 5.9 rebounds a game as South Dakota won 26 games in Craig Smith’s last year as head coach. After missing the next season, Hagedorn bounced back nicely from his injury, averaging 18.1 points and 6.9 rebounds while making 51% of his 3-pointers.
Hagedorn would be named Second Team All-Summit as a junior and earn the First Team nod two seasons later as a senior. He became one of the best offensive players in the conference and was also a decent shot blocker. He led the league in effective field goal percentage in that impressive senior season and was part of some great winning teams earlier in his career. He did fantastic work for the Coyotes under two different coaching regimes.
