23. Jovan Blacksher Jr.

Blacksher is a 5’11 point guard from Phoenix who found his place in college basketball not far at all from home. He arrived on campus at Grand Canyon back in 2019 and has been a major piece for the Antelopes ever since. He’s been an excellent backcourt weapon, spending most of his time under Bryce Drew, and helping lead Grand Canyon to postseason success.

As a freshman, he was good for 10.7 points and 5.5 rebounds a game but really took a step forward after Drew was hired. In his sophomore season he not only averaged 12.0 points and 5.4 assists per game, but he took the Antelopes to regular season and conference tournament titles in the WAC, culminating in the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2021. He had a slew of 20-point performances in a successful junior year though he’d miss more than half of his senior season due to a knee injury.

He was WAC Rookie of the Year before winning Tournament MVP the following season, with great performances as Grand Canyon made program history. Blacksher earned First Team All-WAC honors as a junior and might’ve matched that had he not been so limited by injuries this past season. A decent scorer, he was among the conference’s best in steals and assists in recent seasons and his story isn’t fully written yet. He’ll be back for a fifth season next year.
