Four-star class of 2024 NCAA Basketball prospect Sebastian Rancik is down to three options. Which of them makes the most sense for the forward?

Sebastian Rancik is one of the top NCAA Basketball prospects from out west, ranked as a consensus top-150 recruit in the 2024 class. Some recruiting services have the 6’9 skilled forward listed in the four-star range with high potential down the road. He showed it in the FIBA Euro championships in 2022, averaging over 14 ppg playing for Slovakia.

Rancik, whose father was also a former D-I player at Iowa State around 20 years ago, has had plenty of power conference interest. But now, he’s reportedly down to a trio of options in the running.

Which of them makes the most sense from a roster standpoint? Here’s a closer look at the potential fit.

Colorado Buffaloes

There’s a strong chance that both key forwards for Colorado will be gone after this season. Cody Williams is a top-5 overall incoming freshman that’s set to go pro if things go well, while starting forward Tristan Da Silva is entering his 4th NCAA Basketball season and is a pro candidate too. This is an option for Rancik that definitely could see playing time early on.

Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma just recently landed a four-star power forward prospect this week in Kuol Atak, a 6’9 athletic player that has a different game than Rancik. So the team could find a way to utilize both players and add them in the 2024 class. Right now, Georgia Tech transfer Jalon Moore is the only player that can really play the four on the roster and he’s been a role player. So even with Atak on board, the Sooners still need frontcourt depth as they head into the SEC.

USC Trojans

All of the attention for USC is the elite backcourt but they have some good depth inside, though it’s largely unproven right now. Four-star forwards Arrinten Page and Brandon Gardner joins the roster that already has former five-star recruits, Kijani Wright and Vincent Iwuchukwu.

dark. Next. 25 best SEC players from past decade

This is an team that has plenty of upside when it comes to recruiting but from a pure playing time standpoint, Rancik would be entering a logjam early on if guys aren’t either pro or transfer candidates down the road.
