Isaiah Johnson-Arigu is a consensus four-star prospect in the 2024 NCAA Basketball recruiting class. Which teams are in the running to land him?

Decision day is coming for Isaiah Johnson-Arigu, who reportedly is set to decide this weekend on his new NCAA Basketball home. He’s a 6’7 small forward from Minneapolis who is ranked just inside the top 100, according to 247sportsComposite.

With an announcement coming in a couple of days, we now know which programs are in the running to land him. Does any of them stand out from a roster standpoint? Here’s a closer look at Johnson-Arigu‘s potential fit with the teams.

Iowa Hawkeyes

The Hawkeyes are without a Murray brother so there’s going to be a need for new wings on the roster. That’s especially true if Patrick McCaffery isn’t around after next season. The team does have freshman Bryce Sandfort but he’s more of a shooter whereas Johnson-Arigu is the athletic type that Iowa needs against the best of the Big Ten.

Northwestern Wildcats

Reigning All-Big Ten star guard Boo Buie has been most of the offense for Northwestern. Once he and Princeton transfer Ryan Langborg are gone, that’s a lot of production the team will need to make up for. It’s an opportunity for Johnson-Arigu to come in and have a sizeable impact out the gate for what should be a rebuilding group. He’d join an already nice 2024 class that has guards KJ Windham and Angelo Ciaravino.

Miami Hurricanes

The Hurricanes recently landed top-50 shooting guard/wing Austin Swartz, who plays more on the perimeter. With Florida State transfer Matthew Cleveland and AJ Casey the only true “wings” on the roster, there’s a need for another versatile forward going forward. They are after four-star target Rakease Passmore so it could come down to who potentially picks Miami first.

Texas Tech Red Raiders

New HC Grant McCasland hasn’t been busy much in the 2024 class since he had to scramble to build a roster good enough to compete in the Big 12. But with transfer Devan Cambridge leaving and possibly Kerwin Walton as well, there’s a definite need for another wing to pair with Nevada transfer, Darion Williams. Johnson-Arigu would be a nice first commitment in the McCasland era.

Virginia Tech Hokies

After the transfer of Darius Maddox to George Mason, the Hokies are looking for a new wing to take over. UNC transfer Tyler Nickel is a long-term option, as well as current 2024 commit, Tyler Johnson. They’ve done well with versatile forwards like Johnson-Arigu so this could be a natural fit.
