Georgia Tech Basketball: Yellow Jackets get big pickup in top-50 Jaeden Mustaf
New Georgia Tech Basketball head coach Damon Stoudamire was able to land a big commitment this week in Jaeden Mustaf, a top-50 combo guard.
One of the top guard prospects in the 2024 recruiting class is Jaeden Mustaf, a 6’4 combo guard who plays in Atlanta for Overtime Elite. He’s a big playmaking guard who can play both on and off the ball and should be an effective two-way player. The four-star recruit had several teams in the mix to land for him, including Georgia Tech Basketball.
The Yellow Jackets had some big competition for the top-50 prospect, who decided on Thursday. Among the other finalists included Arkansas, Indiana, NC State, FSU, and Maryland. In the end, Mustaf decided to stay where he currently resides.

New head coach Damon Stoudamire has been busy building up the backcourt for the future, regardless of what some players decide after the 2023-24 campaign. Only super senior Kyle Sturdivant has to leave, while Lance Terry, Miles Kelly, Deebo Coleman and Florida transfer Kowacie Reeves all have an extra year available if they choose.
There’s also Amaree Abram, the combo guard transfer from Ole Miss that had a solid freshman campaign and has been viewed as a potential breakout candidate. If that happens and he goes pro, the Yellow Jackets could lose a lot of backcourt depth.
That’ll give Mustaf a nice opportunity as a freshman to make a lot of noise. And he’s the kind of player that Georgia Tech needs to get out of the bottom-tier of the ACC and get back into being a contender for the NCAA Tournament.
He’s the first class of 2024 commit for Coach Stoudamire and as good one a recruiting debut as possible, even before playing a game. Let’s see who else will join Mustaf and the Yellow Jackets going forward.
