Jeremiah Johnson is a key prospect in the 2024 NCAA Basketball recruiting class. Which teams are in the running to land him?

We have another NCAA Basketball prospect announcing an update in their respective recruitment. This time it’s Jeremiah Johnson, one of the top players in the state of Oklahoma’s 2024 class. He’s a 6’3 point guard who at one point was ranked inside the top 100 overall before being sidelined by injuries.

When on the court, he’s an athletic playmaker with the ball in his hands and capable of scoring at a high level. His recruitment has reached its peak, with an announcement reportedly coming in a week. We now know which programs are in the mix, with five making the final cut.

Here’s a look at how Johnson would fit with each potential option.

LSU Tigers

The Tigers have two senior guards that’ll be leaving after next season in Trae Hannibal and Vandy transfer Jordan Wright. And Tulane transfer Jalen Cook has a couple of years of eligibility left as well. The team does have four-star freshman point guard Mikey Williams and are after a number of prospects in the 2024 class as well. Depending on how else LSU adds, Johnson could be facing a logjam.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

The entire projected guard rotation for OK State are all entering their 4th and 5th-years so the wait to get on the court for Johnson wouldn’t be long. Plus, this is the local option so he can stay home. The only concern with the Cowboys is that Coach Mike Boynton may be on the hot seat if they don’t have a good year so that’s something to consider, though Saint Louis and even SMU could also be part of that.

Saint Louis Billikens

Saint Louis had a late addition in senior transfer Mike Meadows to run the offense this season. Once he’s gone, it’s up to freshmen Cian Medley and Dorde Curcic as part of a future core. That’s a winnable battle for Johnson to take on in the perimeter and the rebuilding Billikens are the safest bet for him when it comes to playing time.

SMU Mustangs

The Mustangs are heading to the ACC after this season and that could be what gives the program a recruiting boost. Johnson would join shooting guard commit Chance Puryear in the 2024 class and if both Chuck Harris and Zhuric Phelps leaves after next season, could see some immediate playing time.

TCU Horned Frogs

TCU brought in a trio of senior transfer guards in Trey Tennyson, Avery Anderson, and Jameer Nelson Jr. Only Nelson could come back for an extra year and there’s literally no other ball-handler depth on the roster. Without knowing who the Horned Frogs also could realistically get next offseason, this is a good landing spot for Johnson if he wants to get on the court quickly.
