NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing potential contenders for 4-star Rakease Passmore
One class of 2024 NCAA Basketball prospect whose recruitment is currently on fire is Rakease Passmore, a consensus four-star recruit and ranked in the top 50 overall. He’s a 6’5 small forward from Asheville, North Carolina, and is a nice two-way talent with high-level scoring potential down the road.
Passmore is one of the few top prospects that hasn’t announced any lists of official options. However, between visits he’s publicly either gone on or will reportedly go and articles talking about his recruitment, there are eight teams that have been linked to the small forward.
Here’s a look at how Passmore would fit with each option from a roster standpoint.
Arkansas Razorbacks
Arkansas has a roster that currently features everyone who can play the three-spot all being seniors, such as Denijay Harris and Jeremiah Davenport. The concern here is that the team recently landed top-100 commit Jalen Shelley so it would be a battle for that position, even without knowing who the Razorbacks add via the portal a year from now. But if they don’t add more wings, there’s a way both can play on the court together since Shelley can play at the four.
Indiana Hoosiers
Indiana is reportedly in the mix for multiple top-tier small forwards besides Passmore. Annor Boateng and five-star Liam McNeeley are also targets, with them having a real good shot at McNeeley. If they land him and five-star freshman forward Mackenzie Mgbako isn’t a “one and done”, the Hoosiers likely wouldn’t have room for Passmore.
