Point Guard

Starter – Chucky Hepburn: 12.2 PPG / 2.8 APG / 32.1 MPG

All eyes are on Chucky Hepburn as he prepares for his third season on campus. The sturdy point guard saw his numbers increase in just about every way last year, but watched his percentages slip. It didn’t feel like he had the same big shot-making ability that we saw in spurts during his freshman campaign, and a late-season injury didn’t help.

With that being said, Chucky is a well-rounded guard who made enough strides last year to think his third season could be the special one. He’ll pace the Badger offense and if he can regain his shooting stroke, there’s no question that he has All-Big Ten talent.

Off the bench – Kamari McGee: 1.3 PPG / 0.5 APG / 7.1 MPG

Despite the fact he appeared in 31 games for the Badgers last season, Kamari McGee wasn’t able to find much of a role on the 2022-23 team. The Wisconsin native began his career at UW-Green Bay before arriving in Madison, and was always going to be a role player on this roster. With that being said, McGee seemed to figure things out down the stretch and there’s a chance he could see an increase in minutes this year.

Finding a more consistent jump shot is the primary challenge, but displayed what he could be an ideal world by nailing a trio of three-pointers in the late February loss to Rutgers. If he can come off the bench and provide a nice spark for the Badgers, while taking care of the basketball, that would greatly improve this team on the margins of close games.
