Alabama Basketball is on the board in the 2024 recruiting class, landing five-star big man prospect, Aiden Sherrell. What does he offer the Crimson Tide?

It’s been a busy couple of months for Alabama Basketball when it comes to high school recruiting. They’ve been in the mix for a number of top-50 targets in the 2024 class, including a few five-star players. One of them is Aiden Sherrell, a five-star prospect and riser that 247sportsComposite has ranked in the top 25 overall.

Sherrell is a 6’10 and 220-pound big man with plenty of natural talent. He’s already a good interior defender and shot-blocker, who runs the floor well and has the athleticism to be dominant in the paint. His great play in the past year got the attention of many power conference programs.

A couple of months ago, Sherrell had five teams among his options, including Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas. In the end, he opted to pick the Crimson Tide.

It’s a big frontcourt pickup for Alabama, who lost its starting duo of Charles Bediako and Noah Clowney. They did land a pair of transfers in Grant Nelson and Mohamed Wague to be part of the rotation this season but both are entering their 4th years and could move on after this year. The same goes with returning forward, Nick Pringle.

The hope for the Crimson Tide is that Sherrell develops over time to be in the similar nature as Bediako when it comes to defensive impact, with potentially more upside on the offensive end. The hope for the program is that they can pair him with another five-star prospect in forward Asa Newell, with other key targets such as Zoom Diallo, Derrion Reid, and Liam McNeeley.
