NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 16 teams for 5-star Darryn Peterson
While all of the attention is currently on the 2024 NCAA Basketball recruiting class, some of the top players for 2025 have been making their own moves. This past weekend alone, No. 1 overall prospect Cameron Boozer and his 5-star brother Cayden Boozer reportedly visited the Kentucky Wildcats.
And the guy who’s ranked in the top 3 overall in the 2025 class also updated his respective recruitment. Darryn Peterson is a 6’5 shooting guard who comes from Canton, Ohio, and is one of the best pure scorers at the high school level, averaging over 30 ppg this past season. He has the size, athleticism, and a feel for the game that makes him a must-have prospect.

Auburn Tigers
The Tigers are going to be losing both KD Johnson and incoming transfer Denver Jones by the time the 2025 comes in. And if he’s not a “one and done”, five-star class of 2024 commit Tahaad Pettiford would still be around for Peterson to play with.
Coach Bruce Pearl has a great history of development and a very offensively friendly system for guards and the SEC is a great national spotlight for top NBA Draft prospects, which Peterson will be one of.
