Clemson Basketball looks to have another successful season in the ACC, as they look towards making the NCAA tournament in 2023-24.

Clemson Basketball is coming off one of their more successful seasons in recent memory. The Tigers started 15-3 (7-0) in the ACC, which was their first time since the 1996-97 season. However, the Tigers would finish the season 23-10 and losses to Boston College and Louisville would ultimately lead them to being one of the first 4 out of the NCAA tournament. They also lost in the first round of the NIT to Moorehead State 68-64.

This type of finish really drained Brad Brownell and his Tigers. All the goodwill that Clemson built up just eventually meant nothing since they lost to really bad teams near the end of the season and missed the tourney. Brownell’s seat looks to be warming up since he hasn’t led the Tigers to the second weekend of the tourney since 2018. Making the tournament is key for him and the Tigers this coming season.

The Tigers are looking to get back on track in 2023-24. Brownell got some key transfers to commit to Clemson in the coming season and have the 34th ranked transfer class (per 247sports). Clemson lost Hunter Tyson last year who was no doubt a leader for this Clemson team averaging 15.3 points, 9.6 rebounds, and was even named an All-ACC player.

Brownell looks to replace some of that talent however with these four new transfers: Joe Girard (Syracuse) , Jake Heidbredder (Air Force) , Jack Clark (NC State), and Bas Leyte (UNC Greensboro). The Tigers also look to bring back some key talent from last year including PJ Hall, Chase Hunter, and Ian Sciefflelin.

Clemson needs to get back near the top of the ACC next year if they want a fight to be apart of the field of 64 next season. With the talent they have, they definitely have the capability to be a good basketball team in the ACC. The transfers Brownell has brought in will need to gel with these key players who are returning to this Clemson roster.

Here’s the outlook on what the Clemson Tigers are and what they could be in the 2023-24 college basketball season.
