Texas Tech Basketball: Projected depth chart and rotation for 2023-24 season
Fewer teams had as many disruptions last season as Texas Tech Basketball, who went from being one of the better overall programs in all of college hoops to finishing at the bottom of the Big 12 last season. Maybe had head coach Mark Adams stuck around all year, things would’ve been slightly different.
Either way, the Red Raiders have cleaned house, both on the sidelines and on the roster overall. Replacing Adams as HC is Grant McCasland, one of the big risers in the coaching profession. He’s coming off taking North Texas to an NIT title and developed a reputation as one of the better defensive minds in the game.
From a roster perspective, many players transferred out, including Fardaws Aimaq, Daniel Batcho, and Jaylon Tyson. And with leading scorers Kevin Obanor and De’Vion Harmon both out of eligibility, that makes 5 of the top 6 scorers from last season now gone. Freshman Richard “Pop” Isaacs is the lone key player from the previous rotation coming back.
The good news is that Texas Tech did fairly well in the transfer portal, landing four transfers. They also kept KyeRon Lindsay, who was a mid-year transfer pickup from Georgia. Add a pair of incoming freshmen and the roster is full for the 2023-24 campaign.
But how will it ultimately work out? Here’s a closer look at the Red Raiders roster, including who is most likely the starting lineup on Day 1.
