Tulane Basketball: Kameron Williams becomes highest-ever ranked commit
Coach Ron Hunter continues to take Tulane Basketball in the right direction, now landing the program’s highest-ever ranked commit in Kameron Williams.
They flew under the radar last season compared to Houston and Memphis but it was a good campaign overall for Tulane Basketball. The program got its second 20-win season in 23 years and finished third in the AAC standings at 12-6. Coach Ron Hunter has improved the team’s win-loss record marginally in the past three years and there remain high hopes entering this year, thanks to the return of star guard, Jaylen Forbes.
However, both Forbes and star wing Kevin Cross (14.8 ppg and 6.7 rpg) will be gone after this season. So the Green Wave will be in need of some great talent coming in the future to keep the team viable in the top half of the AAC. And Coach Hunter was able to find that in a historic pickup for the program.

Kameron Williams is a three-star prospect, ranked around the top-150 in the 2024 class. And according to 247sports, he’s the highest-ranked player out of high school to commit to Tulane Basketball, beating out Moses Wood and Keith Pinckney. Understandably, the Green Wave hasn’t been a marquee destination for talent, dating back to the program’s days in Conference USA.
Williams is a 6’7 guard/forward from Lafayette, Louisiana. He’s a hometown prospect with great upside as a talented scorer and is versatile enough to play and guard multiple positions. The hope is that he can be a replacement for Cross on the wings, while the team leans on junior guard Sion James to take over the offense on the perimeter after Forbes is gone.
Coach Hunter continues to rebuild Tulane and has then on the upside as a program. Let’s see who else he’s to add to continue this positive momentum.
