Earlier in the offseason, one of the top players in the entire 2024 NCAA Basketball recruiting class released a list of eight options. Boogie Fland, a consensus five-star prospect from New York, had programs such as UConn, St. John’s, and North Carolina in the running. However, the elite ball-handler is reportedly focusing on three specific programs.

I’ve talked about Fland before and what he could bring to each of the possible options. However, after some developments with each program involved and their roster-building, I want to look at both the positive and negative aspects of each option in the eyes of Fland.

Here are some pros and cons for the top prospect to consider with all three programs.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Pros

Coach Nate Oats has a great recent history of sending pros to the NBA, including recent No. 2 overall pick, Brandon Miller. It’s a very friendly offensive system for guards and they’re set to lose Hofstra transfer Aaron Estrada and potentially starter, Mark Sears.

Between the three options, Alabama is a nice balance when it comes to both playing time availability and having a coach with a history of both winning and development. As long as Sears isn’t around for one more year, the PG position will be Fland’s in 2024.

Cons

The first “con” is the possibility of both Sears and Cal State Fullerton transfer Latrell Wrightsell Jr. coming back for 5th years. And since neither are currently true draft prospects, it could happen. Plus, Alabama is also after another five-star target in Zoom Diallo, ranked just as high.

Likely, only one of them can join the Crimson Tide so if Diallo decides first, that’ll force Fland’s hand here.
