No. 6 Buzz Williams, Texas A&M Aggies

Buzz Williams has been around college basketball for quite some time, and his time with the Texas A&M Aggies is just starting to get good. Buzz Williams has been coaching power 6 basketball since 2008 and has been at 3 different schools in that time. He coached Marquette from 2008-2014 where he led them to two sweet sixteens, two elite eights, and two first weekend appearances.

He then left for the Virginia Tech Hokies, which was a rebuilding job that most pundits at the time people were confused by. However, Buzz turned them around by the 2018-19 season where he took them to the sweet sixteen. He left in the 2019 offseason where he took on the Texas A&M job.  In his 4 years at Texas A&M he has gone 76-47 (.618%) and has won 25 games or more in his last 2 seasons.

The Aggies last year were looking to have a decent tourney run last year but were stopped in the first round by Penn State who were playing some of the best basketball out of any team in March last year. Williams has proved he can lead a team to deep runs like elite eights and sweet sixteens, but the real challenge will be for Buzz to get back to an elite eight. He hasn’t been to one since his Marquette days and he needs to prove he can still win in the postseason at a high level.

Buzz has the coaching capability to take this team far, but the players just need to prove it in March for him. Texas A&M should be a good team in the SEC next season and Buzz William’s experience should lead the way front and center for the near future of Aggies basketball.
