3. Will Louisville have good point guard or center play?

The point guard position is one of the most shaky in this Louisville team, however, the center position is another position that should be looked at more closely. The point guard spot will likely have Skyy Clark start and Ty-Laur Johnson will back him up. Mike James and Koron Davis could potentially play some point guard minutes, but it will likely be made up of mostly Clark and Johnson.

The issue with these two players is their experience. Clark only played 13 college games and then transferred out of Illinois and Johnson will play as a freshman, although he does has experience playing basketball out of high school. It will be interesting to see if these players can hold down the PG position, which was in disarray last season.

The center position is also very interesting for Louisville this season. Brandon Huntley-Hatfield will likely be starting, and his experience from last season makes him an important player on the team. Although Hatfield didn’t player amazing last year, he did show some potential and if he can get better defensively he will be an important piece in 2023-24.

True freshman Dennis Evans will be backing him up and if Hatfield starts to slack, he could possibly take his starting spot. Evans comes in as a top 25 recruit and stands at 7’1. (per 247sports). Evans has the talent and size to be a big piece of the Louisville bench unit, and even possibly the starting lineup if he is needed.

The Louisville PG and center positions are the most interesting on the team, and a lot could happen in the lineups from now to March.
