Louisville Basketball: 3 biggest questions heading into 2023-24 season
By Caleb Hall
1. Will Kenny Payne be able to be an effective in game coach?
If Louisville fans took anything away from last year it was that the roster was not that talented and that Kenny Payne did not seem to be a very good in-game coach. Louisville very well led the nation in turnovers last year and it just seemed like they lost for most of year last year. However, towards the end of the season Louisville seemed to get a grip on handling the small things better. They were turning over the ball less and just seemed to be playing smarter basketball. Or at least they were playing much smarter that the beginning of the season.
Payne can have the best players in the world but if he can’t coach them effectively then what’s the point? Louisville was nowhere near a talented team last year but they were more talented than 4-28 and fans know that. If Payne wants to keep his job or just have some success this season, he will have to make better coaching adjustments not just in weekly practices, but during the basketball game.
Louisville will have some talent next season and although it won’t be superb, Payne will have the ability to lead Louisville to some decent wins this year. It all depends on how good Payne can be as a head coach for his second year coaching the Louisville Cardinals.
Only time will tell if Kenny Payne is the right man for the job for the future of Louisville Basketball.
