Key Reserves for the Cavaliers

Something that Virginia improved on last year was depth. Some of the following players could really be switched into a starting role throughout the season for performance or injury related reasons.

Isaac McKneely
McKneely has the makings to be a star guard in Charlottesville. Glimpses of his shot’s quick release and consistency from three is something to be excited about. If he can take the next steps in developing his game defensively and creating his own shots off the dribble more consistently, he will easily find himself in a starting role down the road. Admittedly, he could possibly even start in game one this year.

Ryan Dunn
A promising guard, Dunn has an exciting future ahead of him in college and maybe beyond. His length allows him to fit easily into the pack line where he was seen with the ability to stay in front and slide as needed. His ability to rise up makes him an exciting piece to bring off the bench adding another dimension to the offensive attack. Some fine tuning on both ends of the floor will also bring him into a starting role.

Leon Bond III and Taine Murray
Following a redshirt year Leon Bond III will come into this year with a full season under his belt to get acclimated to the college level. He should be a player to look out for early on to see where his development is at. Taine Murray has not seen a large amount of playing time in his last two years in Virginia. However, he is a great catch-and-shoot wing especially from the corner.

Incoming Freshman
Blake Buchanan, Elijah Gertrude, Anthony Robinson, and Christian Bliss are all incoming with varying levels of anticipation. At least a few of them could see some playing time to test the waters this year with some having high prospective ceilings.
