While dealing with his battle with Cancer, one of the faces of NCAA Basketball, Dick Vitale, is reportedly set to return this upcoming season.

When you think about people most associated with NCAA Basketball, one of the first names has to be Dick Vitale. He was the former head coach at Detroit Mercy in the 1970s but has been a broadcaster for the past several decades, currently with ESPN.

Vitale has called some of the biggest games in the sport’s history and is known for his infectious personality and genuine enthusiasm for the game. Sadly, the past few years have been rough, with multiple cancer diagnoses. Still, if you’ve followed him on his journey (@DickieV on X/Twitter), you know he’s been fighting this disease in an effort to get back on the call.

And thankfully, we’ve gotten great news from the man himself.

It’s simply awesome to hear regarding Vitale, as it signals that we’ll still get to hear from him in the greatest sport in the world. And we also know which game we’ll get Dicky V for as well.

The new ACC/SEC Challenge is ESPN’s big non-conference league series so having Mr. Vitale makes sense. And Miami vs Kentucky is going to be one of the top games among the bunch that week. It’s also going provide him a number of chances to use the famous phrase “diaper dandies”, considering how many freshmen the Wildcats plan on playing this upcoming season. The Hurricanes got a couple of interesting newcomers as well to keep an eye on.

Welcome back Dicky V and special congratulations on the prognosis and current good health. Let’s all hope and pray that it continues not just for the upcoming season but going forward for the future.
