Ohio State Basketball: 2023-24 season preview for the Buckeyes
By Joey Loose
Schedule Outlook
After opening the season with a very winnable home date against Oakland, the Buckeyes are thrown right into the fire, welcoming a ranked Texas A&M squad to Columbus on November 10th for their nonconference test at home. Two easier home games await in the coming week.
Ohio State will then head to Florida as part of the Emerald Coast Classic, tipping off with a difficult matchup against Alabama on November 24th. They’ll then get a game with either Oregon or Santa Clara the following day, concluding their holiday tournament.
There are a few more home games on the slate in nonconference play, but the Buckeyes also get Big Ten play started in early December, hosting Minnesota before a road game at Penn State, though both contests should be winnable in the early going.
Two more intriguing contests await before Big Ten play begins in earnest. The Buckeyes travel down to Atlanta on December 16th to do battle with UCLA as part of the CBS Sports Classic. The final test is two weeks later as they’ll match up with West Virginia in Cleveland.
Nothing comes easy during Big Ten play, and the Buckeyes will have their fair share of difficult matchups. They only play Purdue once (at home), but will head to East Lansing in late February for their only crack at Michigan State. Among their home-and-homes are matchups with Indiana, Michigan, Rutgers, and Wisconsin. The final home game is March 3rd against the Wolverines while they head to Rutgers the following weekend to finish the regular season.
