NCAA Basketball Recruiting: Analyzing top 4 teams for 5-star F Karter Knox
5-star NCAA Basketball prospect Karter Knox is down to just four options. Which of them makes the most sense for the elite wing?
Another top-tier class of 2024 NCAA Basketball recruiting prospect has updated their respective recruitment. This one has a familiar name in Karter Knox, the younger brother of former Kentucky star and NBA forward, Kevin Knox. He’s a 6’6 wing from Florida, who currently plays for Overtime Elite.
Just like his older brother, Karter is an elite three-way scorer with the size to be impactful on the defensive end. Knox can shoot at a high level and can be an alpha option on offense. He’s someone with NBA potential but first has to make a college decision, if he wants to go that route.

Considering that he’s playing at Overtime Elite now, going from that to the NBA G-League Ignite Team would make sense. He’s someone that pro teams are going to want to draft so as long as he doesn’t look overwhelmed, would be a potential 1st-round draft pick. But if Knox opts to go to college, here’s how he’d fit with the other three options.
Kentucky Wildcats
The obvious connection with Kentucky is there since Kevin Knox went there. And the team could use Karter, since Antonio Reeves will be gone after the season and likely top-10 incoming freshman, Justin Edwards, as well. There would be plenty of room available for this prospect to come in and get immediate playing time out the gate.
Louisville Cardinals
Coach Kenny Payne coached Kevin when he was an assistant at Kentucky, which is why the Cardinals are in play. Unlike Kentucky, Louisville would be able to instantly allow Knox to be the focal point of the offense and showcase his skills. Of course, the team has struggled mightily and he’d risk not having a good enough supporting cast to be able to look good in his likely lone year in college.
South Florida Bulls
The Bulls are the “hometown” option for Knox if he wants to stay in the state. Like with Louisville, the star would be able to be the star of the team and get a large role. And in the AAC, Knox would dominate and be the favorite for Player of the Year. But new coach Amir Abdur-Rahim is coming over from Kennesaw State and has to prove he can develop guys into top-tier NBA Draft prospects like Kentucky or even with Payne’s history.
In the end, it feels as if Kentucky should win out this recruitment if Knox decides to go to college. But will that be the route he goes?
