2023-24 season outlook

Like any new team, the goals of the program really are focused on establishing an identity and finding great things to look back on after this season. Teams can turn things around fast, and ETSU has definitely set itself up for something like that here. Brooks Savage knows what a winning culture is in college, and at East Tennessee State itself.

Ideally, with a younger team, there can be a lot to look forward to as this team meshes. As mentioned earlier, a lot of the freshman coming in look like guys who will be able to hop into bigger roles in future seasons and keep this program rolling. This will establish ETSU as great mid-major destination both setting wise and program wise for recruits and transfers alike at this level.

In a happy world for the Buccaneers, a top half finish in conference would be the end goal for sure. As far as wins and losses, it would be great to see this team pickup wins where expected and make a few surprising victories as well against their conference rivals and out of conference as well. If the team can come out of this 2023-2024 campaign with that type of resume, picking off a few teams like Appalachian State or Cleveland State, it would be safe to say the team is back in the right direction.

Brooks Savage looks like the guy to be in Johnson City for the time being which is a must have for this program to get back on track. With a passionate local fanbase and student body, and the right tools in place, perhaps these Bucs will be right back in the mix sooner than you know.
