7. Texas A&M Aggies

The Aggies finished second in the SEC last season, thanks in part to the stellar play of the backcourt. They not only had starpower at the top but also plenty of depth. The team did lose a couple of key pieces, including starting guard Dexter Dennis, along with Andre Gordon transferring out. The good news is that the two leading scorers are back, including an SEC Preseason Player of the Year candidate.

Wade Taylor was the breakout star of the team, leading Texas A&M with 16.3 ppg and 3.9 apg. He shot 36% from three-point range and had nearly two steals a game. He had 12 games of at least 20 points, including 28 points on 8/15 shooting from the field against Alabama. The other key veteran is Tyrece Radford, who produced 13.3 ppg and 5.4 rpg and is back for an extra year.

The Aggies also landed a pair of key transfers to add to the depth. Jace Carter is a 6’5 guard/wing from Illinois-Chicago who averaged 16.6 ppg and 7.0 rpg, along with 1.8 steals per game. Plus, Eli Lawrence was a leading piece from Middle Tennessee, coming off averaging 12.2 ppg and 4.1 rpg, and will be another versatile perimeter option.

With the likes of Manny Obaseki, Solomon Washington, Hayden Hefner all back, along with the addition of freshman guard Bryce Lindsay, Texas A&M has a ton of depth to work with. The SEC has lots of guard guards but this group can compete with any of them.
