18. Ace Baldwin Jr. – Penn State Nittany Lions

2022-23 season stats (at VCU): 12.7 ppg and 5.8 apg

Baldwin was the A-10 Player of the Year last season at VCU, leading them to the NCAA Tournament. He’s now on a bigger platform in the Big Ten, following his head coach to Penn State. The problem that Baldwin is going to have is that the Nittany Lions a completely rebuilt team not expected to win much this season. Without the wins, he’s not going to have much of a shot.

17. Isaiah Stevens – Colorado State Rams

2022-23 season stats: 17.9 ppg, 6.7 apg

Stevens was able to come back from a preseason injury to put up a ton of stats, though it was on a bad Rams squad. The expectations are that Colorado State will bounce back to be a contender in the Mountain West. But the only way Stevens is going to have a chance to contend for the Bob Cousy Award is that he not only replicates those numbers but that the Rams win the league.

16. Boo Buie – Northwestern Wildcats

2022-23 season stats: 17.3 ppg and 4.5 apg

Buie did the near impossible last season, taking Northwestern to its second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The star guard came through just about every time, including nearly beating No. 1 Purdue on his own. Without Chase Audige around, he’s going to be tasked to score even more to keep the Wildcats in the postseason mix.
