16. Colorado Buffaloes

The Buffaloes weren’t the biggest team last season but the one true center they did have isn’t around anymore, as starter Lawson Lovering is now at Utah. But the team was able to replace him with another power conference starter in Eddie Lampkin, who produced 6.3 ppg and 5.9 rpg at TCU and is one of the better interior defenders in NCAA Basketball.

He’ll be paired with returning star Tristan Da Silva, who led the team with 15.9 ppg and 4.8 rpg. The 6’9 forward shot 50% from the field and 39% from deep, including 10 games of at least 20 points. There are several freshmen forwards to add depth as well in Joe Hurlburt, Bangot Dak, and Assane Diop.

But the most important freshman is Cody Williams, a five-star prospect and highest-ranked recruit to join Colorado. He’s a 6’8 small forward with elite offensive skills and could step in and become a leading scorer if everything goes well. For a Buffs team that lacked scoring depth, Williams gives Colorado a true “Big 3” on offense.

The Buffs have the pieces to make a jump in the Pac-12 standings, thanks to this revamped frontcourt. But it’ll all come down to how big a freshman campaign Williams will have. Everything can depend on his play.
