8. Kansas Jayhawks

Once again, Kansas had a star-studded frontcourt that was good enough to win the Big 12. Conference Player of the Year and All-American Jalen Wilson led the team with 20.1 ppg and 8.3 rpg before going pro. The team also had some departures from the bench, including top-40 freshman centers, Zuby Eliofor and Ernest Udeh Jr. Cam Martin, a former D-II star, also transferred out to Boise State.

The one forward that did return is KJ Adams. He had a standout sophomore campaign, averaging 10.6 ppg and 4.3 rpg, and was one of the top defenders in NCAA Basketball as well. After originally transferring to Santa Clara, Zach Clemence is now back and reportedly could redshirt. And Santa Clara transfer Parker Braun adds depth inside.

Ultimately, the biggest big man to watch for Kansas, and maybe from the entire transfer portal this offseason, is Hunter Dickinson. He was an All-American at Michigan, coming off averaging 18.5 ppg and 9.0 rpg, while shooting 56% from the field and 42% from deep. The 7’0 center has had numerous big games against power conference competition and instantly becomes the focal point for the Jayhawks.

If Kansas can get some contributions from four-star freshman small forward Johnny Furphy, they’ll be in a great position to remain a Final Four contender. How Dickinson and Adams co-exist in the frontcourt may be a storyline to watch but expect Coach Bill Self to make it work well.
