6. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Gonzaga has consistently had one of the top frontcourts in NCAA Basketball for the past decade, thanks to having Drew Timme around for a few of them. The All-American and WCC Player of the Year had a dominant past year, averaging 21.2 ppg and 7.5 rpg. Second on the team in scoring was Julian Strawther (15.2 ppg and 6.2 rpg), who is now in the NBA.

With Efton Reid transferring out and Kaden Perry forced to medically retire, the Bulldogs needed to find some depth inside. They landed a big fish in Graham Ike, a transfer from Wyoming who although missed all of last year with a foot injury, did average 17.3 ppg and 8.5 rpg in the year prior. Another addition was Steele Venters, who averaged 15.3 ppg at Eastern Washington and was the Big Sky Player of the Year.

Many would say that the best frontcourt player on the team is Anton Watson, coming off a career-high of 11.1 ppg and 6.2 rpg. Without Timme around, it’s the chance for the 5th-year senior to become more than a “glue guy” and be a focal point of the offense. Ben Gregg, a stretch forward that had his own breakout campaign last season, could very well start if there’s any concern with Ike’s health.

Add four-star role players such as Braden Huff, Jun Seok Yeo and Pavle Stošić in the mix and Gonzaga has plenty of frontcourt depth to once again, dominate the WCC. The only question is without Timme, will it be good enough to make another run in March?
