4. Arizona Wildcats

Arizona easily had one of the top frontcourts in NCAA Basketball in Oumar Ballo and Azuolas Tubelis, who led the team with 19.8 ppg and 9.1 rpg. Tubelis, who was an All-American and All-Pac 12 performer, is now in the pros. But at least, Arizona was able to keep the other star big.

Ballo averaged 14.2 ppg and 8.6 rpg and became the elite interior defender after coming over from Gonzaga. The 7’0 center and Pac-12 Most Improved Player had six games of at least 20 points, including 30 points and 13 rebounds against Creighton. Without Tubelis around, he’ll be the focal point inside.

Replacing Tubelis at the four-spot is Keshad Johnson, the starting power forward on the San Diego State team that made it to the national title game last season. He averaged just 7.7 ppg and 5.0 rpg on 53% shooting but is one of the better frontcourt defenders in the sport. So having Johnson and Ballo inside will make Arizona formidable on that end.

And there’s a ton of depth inside as well, with guys like Henri Veesaar, Filip Borovicanin, and Dylan Anderson coming back, along with highly-touted international freshmen, Paulius Maurauska and Motiejus Krivas. So even if there’s some offensive concerns with the starters, the backups are skilled enough to make up for it.
