24. Memphis Tigers

As of now, I’m writing this article under the assumption that Memphis won’t have star forward Deandre Williams, who is appealing a denied waiver from the NCAA. He was one of two key pieces for the team last season, averaging 17.7 ppg, 8.2 rpg, and 2.9 apg. Also gone in the frontcourt are Chandler Lawson, Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu, and Ian Grainja.

The one big man who is back is Malcolm Dandridge, one of the top backup bigs in NCAA Basketball. He’s behind Jordan Brown, a former five-star prospect and transfer from Louisiana Lafayette. He was the Sun Belt Player of the Year, coming off averaging 19.3 ppg and 8.6 rpg, and was an elite mid-major player.

Also joining the team is David Jones, a 6’6 combo forward from St. John’s. He averaged 13.2 ppg and 6.8 rpg on 39% shooting from the field and assuming Williams doesn’t play, should be the starting power forward. Nick Jourdain is a more natural four-man from Temple, starting 37 games in the past two years and coming off averaging 6.3 ppg and 4.5 rpg this past season.

If Williams somehow got eligible, this Memphis frontcourt would be in the top-10 range, with he and Brown being a quality duo inside. But even without him, the team has more than enough to contend in the AAC.
