No team got hit harder with the injury bug than Florida State, who were missing several frontcourt pieces via injury/suspension last season. The good news is that they only lost one big man from the roster, though it was truly a “big” one. Naheem McLeod is a 7’4 center who started 11 games last season, averaging 3.8 ppg and 2.7 rpg.

All three freshmen forwards are back for another year. The big name to watch is Baba Miller, a former top-50 prospect who missed half of last year. With a full offseason and now able to start on Day 1, the 6’9 forward is a breakout candidate to watch. Cameron Corhen was a beneficiary of the injuries, scoring over 8.0 ppg as a freshman. De’Ante Green and freshman Taylor Bol Bowen are potential rotation pieces to watch.

Among those coming back from injuries are Cam’Ron Fletcher and Jaylan Gainey. Fletcher averaged 10.8 ppg and 7.5 rpg in 10 games before suffering a season-ending injury, while Gainey missed all of last year due to a knee injury. He’s a transfer from Brown and a former two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year big man that should improve the team’s defense inside.

Add VCU transfer and 6’7 forward Jamir Watkins (9.5 ppg and 5.4 rpg) and you have a ton of depth to work with. And those are the teams that historically Coach Leonard Hamilton has down well with. Now, he just has to find a way to make these pieces work well with one another.
