The bottom fell out for Florida State Basketball during the 2022-23 season. Leonard Hamilton’s 21-year reign with the Seminoles sunk to its lowest point, with the program’s nine overall wins being its lease since 2001.

When the brutal campaign came to a close, so did the tenures of some of the more renowned players on the roster. Matthew Cleveland transferred to conference rival Miami (FL), while Caleb Mills made the move to Penny Hardaway’s Memphis Tigers.

There’s a lot of uncertainty for the Seminoles entering 2023-24. There will also be questions all year about Hamilton’s future, especially if the ageless 75-year-old’s team struggles again.

After a challenging 2022-23 season, how will Florida State Basketball return to its glory days during the 2023-24 campaign?

There aren’t a lot of recognizable names in Tallahassee for anyone outside of the ACC diehards. One of the more notable additions is point guard Primo Spears, who started his career at Duquesne before spending last season in the Big East at Georgetown. If Florida State can turn it around, it starts with Spears.

Josh Nickelberry has also arrived after emerging as a serious player at La Salle. If that name seems familiar, it’s probably because Nickelberry has been in the ACC before, spending the first two years of his collegiate career at Louisville. He didn’t get much run with the Cardinals, but should be better able to withstand the league the second time around.

So how will the Seminoles do this season? Let’s take a look at the program’s 2023-24 season preview.
