Projected starting lineup

Point Guard: Primo Spears, Junior

Spears should bring a level of scoring depth the Seminoles haven’t seen in recent years. He was one of the top scorers available in the transfer portal, finishing fourth in the Big East last season with 16 points per game. He also finished second in the conference in assists (5.3 per game) while showing elite abilities from the free throw line. Spears carried a heavy usage load during Patrick Ewing’s last season with the Hoyas and Spears will be expected to do the same at Florida State.

Shooting Guard: Darin Green Jr., Senior

Darin Green Jr. is Florida State’s top returning scorer, averaging 13.4 points per game a year ago. He led the Seminoles last season hitting 36.4 percent of his threes and should be the top perimeter threat on the team, as well as one of the better ones in the ACC. The former UCF standout is entering his last year of eligibility.

Small Forward: Jalen Warley, Junior

The Field of 68 named Jalen Warley as an ACC breakout last year. It’s time for the rest of the country to take notice. Warley is naturally a point guard, but at 6-foot-7, will probably play up a position thanks to the arrival of Spears. His long arms allow him to scorer over smaller defenders on offense and switch around on defense. His assist-to-turnover ratio ranked sixth in the ACC last season.

Power Forward: Jamir Watkins, Junior

Jamir Watkins shares the same initials as Jalen Warley, but he’s a dangerous player all his own. Watkins comes over from VCU, where playing hard-nosed defense is a prerequisite. He should be able to bring that mentality to Tallahassee. A right knee injury caused Watkins to miss his entire sophomore year, but he looked good in 2022-23, averaging 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while playing in every VCU contest.

Center: Cameron Corhen, Sophomore

Cameron Corhen projects to be the youngest starter for the Seminoles. He emerged as a starter during his freshman season, giving him a boost towards becoming one of the ACC’s best bigs. He’s athletic and versatile, but also has the ability to pop out and shoot, hitting a team-best 54.6 percent from the field last year. He averaged 8.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game despite not being thrust into a permanent starting role until the holiday season. A full year in the starting lineup could bring a breakout for Corhen.
