The NCAA basketball world is mourning the loss of Bob Knight, one of the coaching greats of this sport who won three national championships as the head coach at Indiana. He also won a national title as a player at Ohio State and spent several years as the leader at both Army and Texas Tech at the beginning and end of his career respectively.

Knight was embracive personality and had his fair share of controversial moments, but he was one fantastic basketball coach. He touched many lives, both on and off court throughout his long career, which began as a player at Ohio State back in the late 50’s up until his retirement from coaching in 2008.

Today, we’ll be looking at the best teams that Knight led during a coaching career that spanned more than four decades. He’s gone down in history as an icon for the Indiana Hoosiers and also had some fine work with Army and Texas Tech. That being said, all of the teams we’re looking at today were from his legendary run in Bloomington.

We won’t run through specific honorable mentions, but it’s important to know that Indiana was in fantastic shape, especially for much of his first twenty years leading the program. More than ten of those teams belong on this list, but we’ve limited it to the ones with the most success, including his three national championship teams.
