Seton Hall Basketball: 2023-24 season preview for the Pirates
By John Makuch
Seton Hall Basketball had its fair share of great moments and tough sledding as the Shaheen Holloway era made its debut for the Pirates. The Hall finished with a 17-16 record, along with an even 10-10 record in conference play followed by a heartbreaking loss in the first round of the Big East Tournament against the DePaul Blue Demons. This team will look to capitalize on some solid wins they had last season, and Holloway will have a chance to bring in his first new young group of players to this team.
The Pirates recently struggled to find momentum and a big lead in an exhibition matchup against in-state rival NJIT, but this is a new group of guys that will need time to gel together, and they have that opportunity with four easy nonconference matchups before the tough part of their schedule. This team lost guys like Tyrese Samuel, Tray Jackson, KC Ndefo, Jamir Harris, Tae Davis, and Femi Odukale so this will be a new-look Pirate squad.
They will need major efforts out of veteran guards Al-Amir Dawes and Kadary Richmond, who helped lead the team last year but will now be asked to take on a bigger role in this offense. As Coach Holloway looks to work on improving recruiting efforts in South Orange, New Jersey, this team will be led by several transfers such as Dylan Addae-Wusu, Jaden Bediako, and Elijah Hutchins-Everett.
Seton Hall could be in for another year full of ups and downs, but here is a full preview of what this team should look like as the season gets underway for this squad from New Jersey.
