Seton Hall Basketball: 2023-24 season preview for the Pirates
By John Makuch
Projected reserves
C- Elijah Hutchins-Everett
The Pirates will have a bit of a big-man battle/duo, and that will be between Bediako and Hutchins-Everett, the transfer from Austin Peay. He appears to be playing behind Bediako despite his 11.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season, but Holloway may split their starts depending on what the matchup looks like.
F- David Tubek
Tubek did not make an appearance in the Pirates’ exhibition game against NJIT as he may miss time but is expected to be a key rotation piece for this team. The freshman from South Sudan is expected to be a big-time young player for this program and may see a decent role if he plays well. He comes in at 6’7, 215, and can be an ideal wing player for the future of Seton Hall.
C- Arda Ozdogan
Seton Hall came out of nowhere with this addition in Ozdogan, a key center coming out of Turkey. For a team that lost so much size in the offseason, securing a young player like him is a boon for this program. The 6’10 231 freshman will look to throw his name in the battle between Bediako and Hutchins-Everett, but time will tell what his role will become for the Pirates.
G- Jaquan Sanders
Sanders was a player that showed his fair share of flashes last season for The Hall, he played in 22 games as a freshman and showed up in some key moments for his career. He had a notable 11-point performance in a loss against Xavier where he showed his potential as a shooter, and with Jamir Harris gone, this team will need a spot-up guy. Sanders has decent size for a guard at 6’4, but with a year under his belt, this team could utilize his offensive ability.
F- Sadraque NgaNga
Seton Hall hit the transfer portal once again, picking up NgaNga, the 6’10 forward from Boise State. He appeared in 17 games for the Broncos and had some solid performances but did not see a huge role. His size and rebounding ability will be something this team will need off the bench, so this was a bit get for Holloway.
G- Isaiah Coleman
The country had not heard much in terms of recruiting from Seton Hall until Coleman, a four-star recruit and the No. 16 combo guard according to 247 Sports, made his decision to sign with Seton Hall. The 6’5 guard out of Fredericksburg, Va. will get his fair share of opportunities in a Jaquan Sanders type of role as a young guard. This bench is going to be very young including players like Coleman, which is exactly what this team should expect from a coach like Holloway who is looking to build his program.
