NCAA Basketball: Game Picks for Day 3 of the 2023-24 season
By Bryan Mauro
There is a lighter slate of NCAA Basketball games today, but there is still a few games like Florida Atlantic and Loyola-Chicago that is a huge resume game for both teams already. What else can you watch on Day 3?
Day 2 is in the books and while the winners have mostly been the favorites there have already been some huge upsets in NCAA Basketball. It was the second day in a row that a low major (Fort Wayne) beat a high major (DePaul.) It was an upset even if the Blue Demons do not project to be very good this year. Presbyterian had not won a game in the 2023 calendar year but went into Nashville and upset Vanderbilt. That is a huge upset and one that will alter the resume for the Commodores.
After a tough night on day 1 the Big Ten was able to avoid the upset last night. Michigan and Indiana secured wins over good mid major programs. The Michigan win is going to look nice come March.
Today is Day 3 of the season and that means it is time again for more picks of the day. Yesterday I went 12-3 in the Division 1 vs Division 1 games. That puts the overall tally for two days at 107-19 total. Remember, these games are picked on the straight up winners. I do not take point spread into account when I am making these picks. The picks for Day 3 on 11/08/2023 are below.
Florida Atlantic over Loyola Chicago
SMU over Western Illinois
Penn over Bucknell
Syracuse over Canisius
Ohio over Troy
Texas Tech over Texas A & M Commerce
Drake over Lipscomb
Mississippi State over Arizona State
Seattle over Prairie View A & M
UNLV over Southern
Jackson State over San Diego
Santa Clara over Utah Tech
Today is light slate of games and it looks to be a day where there will not be to many upsets. The one game to keep an eye on is the Mississippi State over Arizona State matchup. Florida Atlantic also appears like they are going to be tested right out of the gate on the road against Loyola Chicago. The Ramblers are hoping for a bounce back year. If that upset happens that would be the second top 10 team to fall in just 3 days. Check back tomorrow for more picks.
