Seton Hall Basketball: 3 keys for Pirates to take down Fairleigh Dickinson
By John Makuch
1. Play through Kadary Richmond
The NBA expectations that Pirate fans put on Kadary Richmond heading into the season appear to be coming to fruition as he had a phenomenal outing against Saint Peters. The former Syracuse transfer had one of the best games of his career, putting up 18 points, six steals, six rebounds, and seven assists in 35 minutes.
When you talk about doing it all on the court, Richmond did exactly that, impacting both ends of the floor in dominant fashion. He is primed for a great season that will boost his draft stock, so the Pirates have no choice but to play through him. Seton Hall has some holes that need to be improved as the season goes along, but that does not apply to Richmond.
This team already plays through him, but with his performance, he needs to be handling the ball as much as possible for this team, which allowed them to pull away late. Having Richmond be a constant threat opened the game up for their other stars Dre Davis and Al-Amir Dawes who came through down the stretch.
While this should not be a usage rate that we saw in the Myles Powell era, this roster needs a player that they can go to time and time again, and Richmond is having a bounce-back season where he can become that player once again.
