After months of anticipation and plenty of offseason moves, the NCAA Basketball season finally began this past week. Early November doesn’t exactly bring the same type of on-court excitement as those all-important games in March, but it’s the start of another special season. It’s the start of months of action, tight games, classic matchups, and memorable moments.

With less than a full week of games being played, it’s really hard to say where exactly most teams stand in the nation. We may have a clear idea on which teams are elite and which aren’t, but you never know what will happen as the season progresses. This past week saw multiple seemingly-elite teams lose at home and several other prominent programs falter in the early going. A poor performance in early November won’t sink any season, but an impressive start can likewise boost or inspire any program.

We’ll be taking our first attempt at the Top 25 rankings of the new college basketball season, keeping in mind that many things can and will change in the weeks and months ahead. Anything could happen to the twenty-five teams on today’s list in the future. Many of them are in this position because of preseason expectations more than the first week’s results, but there were still some intriguing contests. Let’s get right into the updated rankings, running through these teams.
