NCAA Basketball: Duke, Michigan State fall in latest top 25 power ranking

15. Arkansas (2-0)
Not many coaches have had more success these last few seasons than Eric Musselman, who’s fresh off a third straight trip to the Sweet Sixteen at Arkansas. Not only have the on-court results been inspiring, but Musselman has constantly been bringing new talent to Fayetteville, doing that again this offseason with transfers like Khalif Battle and Tramon Mark.
The Razorbacks were eager to get onto the court with these new pieces and made quick work of Alcorn State in their first game, securing a 93-59 victory. It was actually Battle’s 21 points off the bench that led the charge, though Mark also added 16 in his first game with Arkansas. The Razorbacks took care of business again later in the week, winning 86-68 against Gardner-Webb. Once again Battle put up 21 points and looks like a great addition to Musselman’s squad.
Flush with talent, Arkansas can compete for the SEC championship this season. There are moving pieces in this rotation and they’re still figuring things out, but the Razorbacks looked good against two inferior opponents and get two more chances next week. They’ll stay right at home with a pair of games against Old Dominion and UNC Greensboro in the week ahead.
