The first week of the NCAA basketball season has come and gone and that means it is time to award the Players of the Week. Last season I started to award the Busting Brackets Player of the Week award to one player from the Mid Major ranks and then one player from the Power 5 conferences. There is not an official award other than the recognition of being awarded the Player of the Week from Busting Brackets.

The first week saw some huge upsets and, in those upsets, there were some huge performances. There has already been a triple double, a 36-point game, a 20-rebound game, and numerous 30-point performances. It was not an easy task finding who the best players were over the last week. With so many great performances a lot of it came down to consistency. Was the player able to consistently show they can have games like that every game or was their great game an outlier.

In the pages below you will see the winner from the Mid major conferences as well as the winner from the power 5 conferences. The games against non-Division 1 opponents were excluded from the stat lines. That makes it a little easier for me to parse out the results and it should only be a factor for the first week. After that most of the teams are going to play division 1 opponents going forward. The Player of the Week award that I give out has zero to do with other national awards the player may win. It is all about who I thought had the best week from every game played. The winners, starting with the mid major player, are below.
