11. Gonzaga (2-0)

Another year and another Gonzaga team sitting in the rankings and looking like the certain favorite in a good, but not great WCC. No matter the year, Mark Few seems to bring out the best in his talent in Spokane and has refreshed this roster again after some major offseason changes. All things considered, Gonzaga is passing the eye test early but it’s not like they’ve exactly been tested.

In fact, their only game of this past week came on Tuesday against Eastern Oregon, a non-D1 school. In news that won’t shock anyone, it was an easy win, with Gonzaga coming away with a 123-57 victory. Put as much stock as you want into these numbers, but forwards Graham Ike (25 points, 11 rebounds), Braden Huff (23 points, 6 rebounds) and Anton Watson (20 points, 6 rebounds) all shined when they were on the court.

Many considered Gonzaga to be a power conference type of program in a mid-major league. These first two games certainly feel like a power conference schedule, as the Bulldogs really haven’t been challenged in the initial weeks of the season. That changes next week as they head across the Pacific to the Maui Invitational, starting Monday with a serious challenge against Purdue. That could be one of the most exciting matchups of the early season; and there will be two more games right after that for the Bulldogs.
